Halloween Began ages ago as a celebration of the ancient Celts and Druids as a way of keeping the evil spirits away.
It was also a time to honor the dead.
Tradition has shown that Halloween, or Hallow Mas, Beggar's Night and Trick or Treat are all one in the same throughout almost all cultures of the world now.
People still put up lights, dress up in frightening costumes to ward off the evil spirits that may break through the spirit portal and enter our world.

Scary faces, funny faces and evil grins are carved into harmless pumpkins in honor of "Jack", the man who unknowningly might have given the "Jack O Lantern" it's name when he tricked the devil into not to taking his soul.

Halloween is full of mystery and fun and still holds it's own special kind of magic for everyone.
Haunted Houses, Scary masks, Candy, parties, bobbing for apples and even chanting divinations for health, wealth and blessings are all part of the Halloween tradition.

Witches, Vampires, Ghosts, Ghouls, Goblins, Werewolves and other various creatures of the night are said to come out on All Hallow's Eve in search of lost souls.
This is one sense can be true if you go by the millions of costumes that parade through the strets in search of the houses with the best candy and best treats.

It was the Celts who first gave Halloween it's original name of "
Samhain"
Many of the cutoms brought to America can also be credited to immigrants from many other Countries.
In the late 1800's well over 7 million people came to settle in the "New World", each bringing their own harvest tradition or belief.
The Victorian era actually set aside most of those customs and beliefs, and turned Halloween into the Trick or Treat night that it has become and is loved for.
