HOTEL DEL CORONADO

Another haunted California  attraction that I hope to see one day, the Hotel Del Coronado sits in  the Western portion running along the San Diego Bay area.
The Hotel even upon driving past commands respect.
My older brother has been there and he is not one to necessarily share my views, but has said that
something not of this world lives there.

He was not fortunate enough to actually see any of the spirits which haunt the hotel, but he did say he felt an eerie sensation when resting in his room one evening.
That could have been any number of things, but quite probrably was the spirit of a young woman who checked into the hotel one night in 1892.
Her name was Kate Morgan and she said she was there to meet her estranged husband.
They had been having marital problems and he was to meet her there.
It was later learned when the husband never showed up, that Kate was actually very ill.
Shortly before the date she gave that she was to meet her husband, she was found dead on the beach with a bullet between her eyes.
The authorities closed the case as a suicide, but some people who worked at the hotel and had come to know her, said it was not suicide.
Many rumors have circled the hotel, and anything is possible.
So perhaps it was Kate who caused that icy chill my brother said he felt.

Of course it is also quite possible that the hotel holds the spirits of some other more famous spirits, Marilyn Monroe was said to have stayed there at one time as well as many, many others.
It was a plush and exorbatent hotel in it's day and on through the years.
Seeing many restorations over the years, it became the place to be in San Diego.
People have reported seeing a woman walking the beach late at night, right about the area that Kate was found dead, and others swera they have seen the figure of Charles Lindbergh.....

Regardless of who is haunting the hotel, it remains a top tourist attraction even to this day.

Alcatraz

Alacatraz Island is located in the Pacific Ocean just off the San Francisco Bay and was home to more than a thousand hardened criminals over a period of several  years.
Alcatraz prison housed some of the most deadly and brutal killers, rapists and degenrates society had to offer.

Long before it was a prison, Alcatraz had had a bad reputation.
The Native Americans who first saw it claimed that it was a "Bad Spirit"
The Spanish had called it, "L Isla de los Alcatraces" meaning "The Island of the Pelicans".
The "Rock" got it's name due to all of the pelican droppings which covered it.

During the building of the great and "inescapable" prison, several construction workers died there.
One was crushed under concrete while it was being poured, others feel to the deaths, and one man was said to have slipped and fallen into the ocean, being swept off and believed to have drowned.
The waters around the island are dangerous enough, shark infested and brutal.
Alcatraz was officially opened as a military prison in 1861.
It housed war criminals and captured prisoners as well.
The island had become an absolute impentrable fortress.
It withstood little to no damage during an earthquake in 1906.

In 1933, the prison was turned over to the Federal Bureau of Prisons and in 1934 began to house some of the most defiant and deadly criminals ever seen.
The 1920's had seen a major upheaval in crime rates and many of the persons who were sentenced to die, were sent to Alcatraz instead.
Guards armed to the teeth with machine guns walked the walls and patrolled the eerie stone floored hallways.
In May of 1946, a bloody battle took place between six inmates who tried to escape the rock.
The battle ended with 17 guards and one prisoner wounded.
Three of the six inmates were killed in that bloody war of the rock.

The prison remained open until Attorney General Robert Kennedy ordered it closed in 1963.
Some of the famous names to sit in the eerie cold cells of the prison were;
Leon Greggory, Frank Bolt (convicted of sodomy), Alan Hood, Joseph Harrison, and Al Capone himself.
Many people who now visit the island to see the empty prison have said they feel evil there, cold chills, evil laughing and even screams can be heard coming from the cells, the old hospital unit and outside in the courtyard.
The island now belongs to the Golden Gate Recreation Area and is maintained by them.
Ferry rides will take you ever closer, and oh so slowly to the "Rock" for a tour.
Many things have been reported happening at night from a distance as well, but nothing has been proven
