This is quite possibly one of the most talked about Vampire movies of the millenium.
Directed by Michael Rymer, this 2002 Draculesque movie stars Stuart Townsend and Aaliyah as the brooding Vampires.
Townsend takes over where Tom Cruise left off as Lestat the Vampire.
He awakens in the modern world from a long sleep to find himself falling in with a rock band and making a huge success as a rock and roll singer.
He quickly develops a slew of fans/and or/victims in this case that are more than willing to abide by his seductive nature.
However...the Mother of all Vampires, has also woken up and has seen Lestat in his rock slinky videos.
She decides she wants him to become her King and rule over all of the world, and take her vampire children public, something that not all of them want to do.
At a rock concert, just before Lestat is attacked, the Queen saves his life.
From this point on to me, this movie just got weak.
No real sex or even real violence to be found and the music was not all that great to me either.
I liked the movie only because I read the novel by Anne Rice, so for that I give it credit, but the actual movie itself was really no different and certainly no better than any other Vampire movie out there
