SALEM'S LOT
---------------------------------------
For a movie to be released and suddenly become an overnight success is rare, or was back when this movie came out.
Released in 1979, "Starsky and Hutch" blonde actor David Soul plays a writer who moves back to hometown of Salem only to find that it has been taken over by Vampires.

This was an early early Stephen King classic that was not as bad as some critics raved it was.
The make up alone used for the head Vampire resembled that of the famous "Nosferatu" and was enough to put a good scare into you when you least expected it.

Directed by Tobe Hooper, this movie had a slow start and a rather slow ending, but it was still pretty good and it is worth seeing if you already haven't.
The Son of THUNDER lives again.......MuaHAHAHAhahahahahaha
THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW
-------------------------------------------------
Wes Craven has had big flops and huge hits throughout his career.
This was one of his HUGE hits.

From everything an avid horror movie viewer knows about the directors, they can often tell if a movie is going to be a success.
This was one of those times.
The movie starred Bill Pullman and Cathy Tyson.
There is nothing hardcore about this movie, it's actually quite different and nothing short of brilliant.

Part of what makes this movie so scary if you will, is the part about the "Serpent" is based off a true story.
Wade Davis had heard about a drug which was being tested to help bring the dead back to life.
He traveled to Haiti to see this for himself.

In the movie, Davis is played by Pullman who does an outstanding job in the role.
Tyson plays his African love interest and the Haititan  leader is played by Zakes Mokae.

Though Davis's book "The Serpent and the Rainbow" was not meant as a horror book, Wes Craven certainly changed all that, including a particular scene that will leave males sitting rather uncomfortably for awhile after the movie is over.
This one is a must see folks.
