| DOG SOLDIERS ---------------------------------- There are few werewolf movies out there that have the Umpf most do. "American werewolf in London" was excellent, "Wolfen" had it's moments. But "Dog Soldiers" was one of a kind and tore up (no pun intended) the box offices. Even the critics had a diffcult time with this one. The movie was directed by Neil Marshall and starred Sean Pertwee and Kevin Mckidd. The storyline is about a group of British soldiers who are on a routine training mission somewhere in the Scottish forest. The team is ambushed by a pack of werewolves and their leader gets himself torn up. (Literally) The team escapes just barely but not without it's recourse. They stumble upon a beautiful zoologist who is studying in the area. They all take up shelter in an abandoned house nearby where she tells them about the legend of the werewolf clan that supposedly has been living there for sometime. In my opinion, Dog Soldiers turned out to be one helluva good movie. Despite some critics who managed a few bad reviews here and there, they were not totally against this movie. Some said it was "too British". I didn't see that, what I saw was a good, a damn good horror movie. Scary Dog rated it a 9 on his polls |
| DOLLS --------------------------- After re-watching this movie I decided that the 6 rating I had previously given it has dropped to a 3. The reason being... I was half asleep when I first watched it and only saw the one good scene of the entire movie..the trasnformation of a human into a doll. After watching it a second time, I quickly realized that the movie lacked intelligence. It's nothing more than a Pinochhio phase, where an elderly doll maker is producing dolls who walk talk and of course kill. The secen of transformation is not near good enough to rate this movie anything higher than a 3, and that could be a real stretch. |
