EVENT HORIZON
------------------------------------------
I give alot of credit to actors Lawrence Fishburne and Sam neill for their top performances in this "Hellraiser" like movie.
The story of this movie is pretty simplistic.
Fishburne and Neill must go in search of the lost space ship called "Event Horizon".
It's technology was designed to open a black hole, but what it opened was a gateway to hell.
Of course when they find the ship, the crew is obviously quite dead, scenes run through the viewers mind at just how terrible a death these poor people suffered.
The events which occured replay on a moniter inside the ship and these are scenes that would Lucio Fulci proud!
As the viewer you only see part of what transpired, but if you watch the video you will be shocked out of your seats if you know how to use the slow motion button.

Over all the movie was slow, but it is excellent as far as the storyline and the incerdible acting by Sam Neill.
He becomes enthralled with the evil on board the ship and as it beckons to him more and more he does everything in his power to kill everybody on board.

If you haven't seen it yet, then by all means, it's well worth the rental fee.

We are the Realm Riders....we guard the borders and shores of the Lair.....beware our screams...for when you have seen us...it is already too late
THE EVIL DEAD
-----------------------------------------
Not a movie for children, in fact not even close.
But still one of the best damn horror movies I've seen since Night of the Living Dead.

This movie stars Bruce Campbell (Brisco County Jr.) and he takes this role much farther than he did as Brisco.
The story here is about three friends who go on a trip and stay at a cabin.
Sound like anything we know already?

Well it's not.
Demons who have been staying in the cabin possess everybody they can and "Ash" played by Campbell is the hero here.
Just some of the great stuff for all you gore hounds out there include, Decapitation, Exploding trees, I'll stop there as not to spoil it for up and coming gore hounds.

But let's just say that this movie kicked serious ass and has a side of it that really drags you in and holds you there.
Like driving by the scene of an accident, you don't want to look but you know your'e going to and afterwards, not so sorry you did.

Director Sam Raimi did an excellent with such a low budget and yet made a blockbuster movie that horror fans world wide will enjoy for decades to come.
The latest releases on dvd are at Anchor Bay and they look spectacular in my opinion.
So that's the scoop on this 1982 giant of horror/gore films.
Go rent it!
