| KISS OF THE VAMPIRE ---------------------------------------- This movie was released in 1963 (a pretty good year...hehehehe) from Hammer Films. The problem with this movie was that neither Peter Cushing or Christopher Lee either one starred in it. Directed by Don Sharp, the movie starred Nole Willman and Clifford Evans, Willman being the Vampire in this one, and not doing a great job in my opinion. Jennifer Daniel is very convincing her role as is Edward De Souza. But the fact that Lee nor Cushing were in this movie, it didnt turn out to be half bad. De Souza and Daniel play a happy couple who somehow get stranded in a Bavarian forest and as always end up at the front door of the Vampire for dinner and a ...drink. The movie had good parts and bad parts but overall really was good. Hammer Films did not put out trashy or really idiotically stupid movies. The cast was rather null and void but they did the best they could and you end up being glad you saw the movie. Scary Dog of Dogwind productions has rated this movie a 6. I would rate it at least an 8. |

| THE KEEP ------------------------ Though there were those who hated this movie, it was actually pretty good. It was directed by Michael Mann and had some rather incredible stars in it. To name two of the biggest, Scott Glenn and Ian McKellen (Lord of the Ring's Gandalf)" The movie also starred Gabriel Byrne and had quite a bit of action in it despite the critics who said otherwise back in 1983. The over all story here is a battle between Glenn's character, a Nazi stormtrooper and some sort of supernatural alien-like being. The trouble begins when inside a castle, a silver cross is removed from the wall and from there, all hell breaks loose and people just start dying all over the place. It isnt a movie I would strongly reccomend, but it isnt exactly at the bottom of the cinema barrel either. |
