| More than 100 years ago, the streets of London were filled with horror and mayhem when the bodies of several women, young and old alike began to turn up dead. The East end of London in 1888 found prostitutes ripped to pieces, mutilated, all killed by a mastermind who they believed had some sort of medical backround. They believed this because many of the women had had organs removed from their bodies, something that Scotland Yard felt could only be done at the hands of a surgeon. The murders had taken place within a mile wide area, including ares such as Whitechapel, Spitalfields, the city of London Proper and Aldgate. Jack the Ripper got his name from a letter that had been delivered to Scotland Yard and signed that way. Terror swept through the streets of London as body after body turned up. History has shown that Jack the Ripper was responsible for only five murders, the worst being that of Mary Jane Kelly who was found on November 8th-1888. However other bodies which had been found also indicated that the serial killer known as Jack the Ripper could have also been responsible for those murders as well. It has been said that The Ripper got worse with each killing, more detailed. It was believed that he even sat with the bodies for hours after death, carefully removing organs and or worse. Who Jack the Ripper was is still not known although many a man has been accused of these heinous crimes. Jack remains one of the more popular and most sought after of all the serial killers to date. |
