| THE TOWER OF LONDON -------------------------------------- One of the most famous haunted places that I hear about is The Tower of London. For well over 1000 years the tower has seen thousands of executions, poisonings, tirtures and more than any other place on earth. There can be no doubt what-so-ever that if you believe in hauntings, you have heard and can just feel the spirits that still live within the tower. In February of 1957, a tower guard came literally face to face with one of the spirits. Upon seeing the figure standing atop the sentry box, he shouted at it, which brought the duty warden and the guard captain out into the rainy weather. They searched the entire Salt Tower and could find no evidence that anyone, or anything had ever been there. Lady Jane Grey was beheaded in the Tower Green which reportedly sits within 150 yards of the Salt Tower and she has been seen repeatedly walking up and down the green after dark. Another famous beheading that took place there was that of Anne Boleyn, who is said to walk along the green on the eve of her beaheading, carrying her head under her arm. She has also been reported as being seen walking inside the Tower Chappel with a ghostly procession following along behind her. Not all visitors to the Tower have seen these things, most have been sentrys or guarsmen who were on duty and happened upon them....or was that the other way around...? |

| THE WINCHESTER MANSION ------------------------------------------- This has got to be the most fascinating of haunted mansions that I ever had the pleasure of hearing about. I have not yet seen the mansion which sits in San Jose California, though I would like to see it very much. When I lived in CA I heard people talking about this mansion almost everywhere within a 100 mile radius. Sarah Winchester was orginally from Boston, and a member the elite society there. Sarah's husband the son of the man who created the first repeat fire rifles, the Winchester. When Sarah's only child and husband both died, she believed that it was the cause of all the people who had been murdered by the rifles, and that they had come back to exact revenge on the family. Sarah traveled to San Jose and began what would be the most dignified haunted house ever to be built. When first constructed, the house stood nearly 7 stories high. Construction lasted for 38 years until Sarah finally died. The house was full of mazes, hidden corriders and moving walls. Sarah named the mansion Llanda Villa. The rooms were all designed to her specific order and she had somewhere up to 600 rooms built without the house at one time. She had closed off more than 30 towards the front of the house, but she wanted the spirits to be appeased, and this was the only way to do that in her mind. Needless to say, spirits can be seen and heard, and even more so, felt all through the house which is now a tour site. A couple can be sitting near the Blue Room, which is where Sarah died. Music can be heard plaing in there, and footsteps can be heard walking in Sarah's bedroom late at night. A caretaker there has heard breathing coming from the room, but when he has gone to investigate, the room is always empty. Lights turn on and off and Sarah has even been seen on many an occasion, she has even been photographed a few times although the pictures are not very clear. |
